Open Graph checker questions
Which Open Graph tags does a page need?
The Open Graph protocol requires og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url, and og:description is strongly recommended. Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp and many other apps read these tags to build link previews.
What size should og:image be?
1200 × 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) works well across Facebook, LinkedIn and most apps. Use an absolute https:// URL, keep the file under a few megabytes, and keep important text away from the edges.
I changed my tags, so why does the old preview still show?
Social networks cache previews. Ask them to re-read the page: Facebook’s Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn’s Post Inspector both have a button to fetch it again. Other apps refresh on their own after a while.
Can og:image be a relative path?
No. Use a full URL including https://. Many apps can’t resolve relative paths, so the preview shows no image.
