Domain age checker questions
Does domain age affect Google rankings?
Google has said domain age isn’t a ranking factor. Older sites often rank well because they’ve had years to earn links and build content, not because of the registration date itself.
Where does this data come from?
From RDAP, the official service domain registries use to publish registration records; it has replaced WHOIS for generic domains like .com. The registration date is when the current registration began.
Does the age reset when a domain changes owner?
Not when it’s transferred or sold while still registered: the original registration date stays. It does reset if the domain expires, is deleted and is later registered again by someone else.
Why is there no data for some domains?
Some country-code domains don’t publish registration records through RDAP. For those, check the country registry’s own website.
